Phacebook could become the new faces of girl power if the
reaction to their support slot at the JLS sell out gigs in Margate
is anything to go by.
During a visit to the kmfm radio studios and Thanet Extra
newspaper on Saturday in between the two shows, the five girls
said: "Reaction has been amazing. The fans really supported us and
we had a ball. We can't wait to come back to Margate again."
The girls -
Lauren, Charlotte, Polly, Talia and Vicky - met on the social
networking website Facebook, hence their name, and haven't looked
back since, with a string of acclaimed performances.
Saturday's visit to kmfm was their first ever radio interview
and they chatted and sang their single Next Best Thing 'a capella'
before presenter Johnny Lewis played the version they recorded in
Philadelphia.
Meanwhile, it seems that boy band JLS simply can't get enough of
their Thanet fans.
Just hours before taking to the stage at Margate Winter Gardens
it was announced that the four-piece will headline a festival at
Quex Park, Birchington, on Sunday, July 25.
Paul Palmer, entertainment and facilities manager at the Winter
Gardens said: "The gigs were great and the crowds were well-behaved
and very noisy."
Mr Palmer revealed that "a prestigious London music venue heard
about how well we stage managed the JLS gigs and organised crowd
control. They have been in touch to ask our advice."
- Tickets for the JLS Quex show cost £28.50 (plus a service
charge) and are available from the Winter Gardens. Call 01843
296111 for details.
