Rock, hula, fezzes -- it must be the Bikini Beach Band

The Bikini Beach Band

The St James’ Club in Broad Street, Ramsgate is set to hot up this Saturday (March 20) when four fez-wearing half-brothers take to the stage to deliver a blistering set of instrumentals as only the Bikini Beach Band can.

When you strip away the flamboyant stage outfits, lovely Hula Honeys and ice cool stage personae, you’re left with the sound of belting, high-energy live performances of outstanding musicianship.

Guitarists Esteban and Miguel Escovedo pay homage to the 'Holy Trinity of Twang': Hank Marvin, Dick Dale and Duane Eddy. Bass player Ricardo keeps the band firmly anchored, while drummer Juan’s cymbal work shimmers like the surf kissing the shores of Bikini Beach at sunset.

The special genius of The Bikini Beach Band lies in the original material and their unique take on pop classics. Where else would you find ACDC’s Whole Lotta Rosie segueing into Red River Rock and the crowd-pleasing Hawaiian treatment of Outkast’s Hey Ya?

The band can be caught live on CD when their latest album Viva! On Stage in London is released on Mad Village Recordings on April 19.

The show starts at 7.30pm, entry is £10. Call 07511 018764 for more information.
