Actor and musician Michael Lunts brings Chopin to life
Comments |
Theatregoers and music lovers are invited to celebrate the
bicentenary of Chopin's birth by spending an evening in the
composer's company at the Sarah Thorne Theatre Club at
Hilderstone's memorial theatre, Broadstairs, on Saturday, March
6.
This month marks Chopin's 200th birthday and The Last
Ballade with live music appreciates both Chopin the man and Chopin
the musician, brought to life by actor and pianist Michael Lunts,
who has spent the last 20 years touring his dramatic portrayals of
the composer around the world.
Audiences at the Sarah Thorne Theatre will remember his
appearance as Chopin in Winter in Majorca last year -
while in some ways this is a sequel to that show, The Last
Ballade is a self-contained work in which Michael turns his
attention to the stormy end to one of the great romantic
relationships, that between Chopin and his muse, the novelist and
'femme fatale' George Sand.
The music Sand inspired, including the beautiful Berceuse, the
famous 'Minute' Waltz and the F minor Ballade, is played live as
part of the action.
The show starts at 7.30pm. Tickets are £10 for members
and £12 for non-members. Seats are bookable in advance from the box
office on 0845 2626263.
