Thanet Way open again after spillage

Fire engine stock

The busy A299 Thanet Way has now reopened after a chemical spill caused traffic chaos this morning.

Kent Police shut both carriageways of the road earlier to allow teams from Kent Fire and Rescue Service to attend the spillage.

The closure caused major delays between the St Nicholas at Wade roundabout and the Roman Galley pub.

It followed a call to emergency services at 9.45am after the driver of a lorry reported a chemical spill on the road.
