Girl, two, seriously hurt after being knocked down by car in Margate
A two-year-old girl has been taken to hospital after being knocked down at a crossing in Margate.
The toddler suffered serious leg injuries after she was hit by a green car in Cecil Square at 3.25pm.
It was originally believed the driver might have jumped a red light.
However, Kent Police said the incident was investigated by an officer - who spoke to the driver and children's parents - who concluded the driver was not at fault.
Police and ambulance crews were called and the girl was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital.
Witness Cassie Gill said on Facebook: "Just witnessed a tiny little girl get run over.
"Poor little thing got rushed to hospital with her screaming terrified parents.
"I can't get her screams out my head. Her dad scooped her up out the road and laid her on the pavement and her poor mum was hysterical.
"Her legs were badly hurt by the looks of it. She couldn't stand. The ambulance was there in minutes, thank God."
