Boy, five, hurt after being hit by truck in St Peters Road in Margate
Police were called to St Peters Road in Margate
A five-year-old boy has been taken to hospital with a head injury after being hit by a truck in Margate this morning.
The youngster was struck by the flatbed vehicle in St Peters Road at about 8.40am.
He has been taken to the nearby QEQM Hospital, but police said the extent of his injuries is not yet known.
A spokesman said the boy was flown by air ambulance to King's College Hospital, in London, at about 10am.
Kent Police said officers are at the scene investigating the crash and said the truck driver was not injured.
The road was closed in both directions between College Road and High Street.
A Kent Highways spokesman urged people to avoid the area and said a diversion is in place.
