Almost £8,000 stolen from man in Sheerness mugging

Almost £8,000 has been stolen from a man after he was threatened in a daylight street mugging.

The 50-year-old was carrying £7,891 in cash from his workplace when he was approached by two men in Cavour Road, Sheerness.

One of the men demanded the money, which was in a plastic bag inside the victim's jacket.

After taking the cash, the thieves ran down Invicta Road and were last seen along Galway Road.

Kent Police are appealing for witnesses to the theft, at around 10.20am on Monday.

The thieves are both white and between 5ft 9in and 6ft.

One is described as having a chubby build, a local accent, was wearing a grey hooded top, blue jeans and white trainers.

The other was slim, wearing a black hooded top, black gloves and black jeans.

Witnesses are asked to phone Kent Police on 101, quoting crime reference XY/001535/13.
