Another national supermarket chain has been confirmed as coming to Neats Court, the development on the outskirts of Queenborough.
Iceland will be opening a store in the retail park, which is entering its second stage of development, in the middle of next year.
Despite the announcement, a spokesman said he could not reveal any more details about the proposed site or what it would mean for the other Iceland branch in Sheerness High Street.
Chairman of the Sheerness Town Team and owner of O.So.U, Pete Giffen, raised concerns over shoppers being drawn out of the town centre if Iceland was to shift its entire operation to Queenborough.
He said: “If it were to move, I can understand their reasons, but it would be a shame, certainly for that end of the high street.
“I know they would put on buses but elderly people don’t want to have to get on a bus and go all that way to do their shopping.
“It’s a massive store [in Sheerness]. Who is going to take that?”
“Let’s hope it’s an additional store.
