An Island pub has made the final three of a county-wide competition after it was put forward by its customers.
The Ferry House Inn, in Harty, is in the running for Kent Dining Pub of the Year at the Taste of Kent Awards following a public vote, which was held in October.
It was announced this week that it will be competing against The George Inn in Molash and The Three Tuns in Lower Halstow for the top prize.
A winner will be announced at a ceremony in March and between now and then a mystery shopper will be paying a visit to judge how well the business uses and promotes local food and drink.
General manager Victoria McCabe said: “It’s brilliant. We’ve never been put up for any awards before so it’s great just to get nominated.”
She is not feeling nervous about the mystery shopper visit, saying: “It’s good to be kept on your toes and especially at this time of year, which is normally quite quiet for us, so it’s great to have something to look forward to in the weeks ahead.
“I have every confidence in our chefs and our food but the other two pubs are well known as well so we’ll just see what happens.”
She added customers had voted for the venue under “all sorts” of names, such as the Harty Ferry, but luckily organisers knew what they meant.
