Congestion as A21 Tonbridge bypass closed after crash and oil spill

A crash and large oil spill on the A21 Tonbridge bypass led to the road being closed today.

Two cars, a Jaguar and Peugeot, were involved in a smash on the London-bound carriageway this morning.

One man was taken to hospital with minor injuries, but the road was expected to be shut for around four hours until about 1pm.

The closure led to delays of about 20 minutes as police diverted traffic through Tonbridge.

Officers were called to the crash between the A26 Vauxhall Lane and the A225 at Morleys roundabout, at about 9.20am.

Highways workers were clearing the oil spill and carrying out emergency repairs.

Motorists were advised to use alternative routes if possible.
