Tonbridge: Commuters through Tonbridge station treated to string quartet during peak rush hour

Commuters travelling to work this morning have been treated to music from a string quartet in one station.

Passengers through Tonbridge were met by the band in the station's concourse.

The Improptu Quartet boasts string quartet music for every occasion, including the morning commute.

The appearance of the quartet definitely divided locals, who were either thrilled or bothered by the music.

Stuart Dade remarked on Twitter how few things could make him take his earphones out, but a quartet playing Bohemian Rhapsody did.

Chris White agreed, saying that the music brightened up his morning.

There were others who thought the music was more of a nuisance however.

A spokesman for Southeastern said: "We like to bring classical music to stations across our network to surprise and delight our passengers.

"This group, called the Impromptu Quartet, gave a taste of the proms to all those at Tonbridge Station.

We like to do these activities unannounced so they’re a total surprise to our passengers. It’s always good to put a little music into their day and see them enjoying themselves."
