Police appeal for information after head-on-collision on A21 at Battle that killed a 27-year-old man from Tonbridge

A 27-year-old driver has died after his van crashed with a lorry on the A21.

Emergency services were called at 1.15pm last Friday to a two vehicle collision at Battle in East Sussex, just south of the junction with Marley Lane.

A silver Vauxhall Vivaro van was travelling south when it crashed head on with a Daf lorry travelling north.

The Vivaro driver, a 27-year-old man from Tonbridge, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 41-year-old lorry driver from Slough was airlifted to King's College Hospital in London and remains in a critical condition.

Officers from Sussex Roads Policing Unit attended the scene and the road was shut for six hours while investigations and recovery work was carried out.

The police are keen to speak to any witnesses who saw the crash or the moments just before. They can call 101 quoting Operation Standean or amail collision.appeals@sussex.pnn.police.uk
