Tonbridge Swimming Pool’s fitness pool, in Castle Street, Tonbridge, to close for up to eight weeks

A popular town swimming pool will be shut for up to eight weeks while repairs are carried out to its roof.

Tonbridge Swimming Pool’s fitness pool will close next Monday (October 17) to allow works to be carried out on a section of the pool hall roof.

The teaching pool, toddler pool, café and spa will remain open as usual.

A Tonbridge and Malling Borough Council spokesman said: "While carrying out external work to replace the roof tiles it became apparent that more extensive internal work is required.

"It was hoped that a solution to the problem could be found externally, however, with regret we will have to close the fitness pool while this work is carried out, as scaffolding needs to be erected inside the building and the fitness pool drained."

Tonbridge and Malling Leisure Trust, which manages the pool on the council’s behalf, will contact customers this week to provide them with alternative arrangements.

The spokesman added: "We apologise for any inconvenience caused during this period."
