Tonbridge Grammar School will welcome war journalist Atia Abawi to host a presentation on her career

Tonbridge Grammar School pupils are preparing to welcome an international news correpsondent, war reporter and author next month.

Ms Atia Abawi previously worked for CNN before moving to BBC News in 2010. She is now a freelancer and the author of a new novel and will be giving a presentation to year 10-13 students at the school in November.

She will be speaking about her life and career as a broadcast journalist and war reporter in which she has reported numerous events of international significance, including, Benazir Bhutto's assassination in Pakistan and the war in Iraq.

After five years of living and working in Afghanistan, Atia moved to Jerusalem in January 2013.

She has since covered, President Barack Obama’s historic trip to Israel and Palestine, the military coup in Egypt, and the Kenyan mall siege by Al-Shabab militants.

The presentation will take place at 1.45pm on Monday, November 3 at the school.
