League 2 defender Ben Harrison signs for Tonbridge Angels from AFC Wimbledon

Tonbridge have signed AFC Wimbledon left-back Ben Harrison on loan for a month.

The teenager, who has made several League 2 appearances for Neal Ardley’s side, made his Angels debut in a 4-0 home win over Leatherhead on Tuesday night.

He grew into the game, having a hand in the second goal and Angels boss Steve McKimm feels fortunate to have him.

McKimm said: “Ben played five games for Wimbledon’s first team as a 17-year-old and signed a two-year deal but he’s not been able to squeeze his way past the full-back this season.

“I spoke to the under-21s manager, Alan Reeves, who’s a good friend of mine and he put it to Neal Ardley, who was more than happy to let him come.

“League clubs don’t normally let players go out to Ryman Premier teams, especially when they’ve signed pro forms, so we’re lucky to get him.

“These lads need experience in men’s football. It hit him like a steam train in the first 20 minutes but the lads helped him and he adapted well.”

Angels, fifth in the Ryman League Premier Division, visit second-bottom Farnborough on Saturday.
