Tonbridge Angels boss Steve McKimm expecting tough afternoon in FA Cup third qualifying round tie against Hereford at Longmead

Steve McKimm admits facing FA Cup opponents Hereford will be no easy task for Tonbridge Angels at Longmead on Saturday.

The Southern League South & West Division leaders, managed by former Gillingham striker Peter Beadle, have won 11 and drawn two of their 13 games in all competitions so far this season and are expected to be supported by a sizeable following.

Angels boss McKimm said: “It is a massive game but an exciting one which I am looking forward to.

“Peter is an ex-pro, knows his football and they are on a great run at the moment. We know what their strengths are, and if they do have a weakness, we will have to work hard to find it.”

Angels’ preparations for the third qualifying round tie could have been better - suffering back-to-back defeats for the first time for more than a season, 5-3 at Merstham on Tuesday and 2-0 at Bognor on Saturday.

McKimm said: “We just weren’t good on Tuesday and errors cost us. I didn’t get carried away before and so I am not going to be too despondent. The players are hurting and know they didn’t perform."

McKimm checked on defender Jerome Sobers at Thursday's training after missing the Merstham game with a calf injury, while Tom Parkinson, who was only involved in the final 15 minutes on Tuesday on medical advice following a virus, was also assessed.

George Beasant, meanwhile, looks likely to be out for up to a month with a hamstring injury.
