Daniel Bradley of Tonbridge AC held his nerve to win the Ashford & District Lions 10k on Sunday, writes Alan Newman.

Bradley, who finished second last year, was under pressure throughout from Mike Coleman (South Kent Harriers), the 2011 winner in the colours of Medway and Maidstone, and stopped the clock at 33min26sec.

Coleman was just seven seconds behind, with the two well clear of third-placed Andrew Fletcher (Folkestone Running Club, 35.37).

David Gillett (Folkestone, 36.38), Daniel Pyne (Dartford Harriers, 37.01) and first M40 Daniel Green (Ashford Tri, 37.19) filled the top six as 32 athletes ducked under the 40-minute mark on this fast but undulating course.

The women’s race went to W35 Amy Forshaw (Highgate Harriers) with a personal-best 37.54 - three minutes quicker than runner-up and first local athlete Sarah Anne Mooney (W35 Larkfield, 41.15).

Top-six places were claimed by Miranda Wilson (unattached, 41.55), Stephanie Hearn (Medway and Maidstone, 41.59) and Nicola Summerfield (Tonbridge, 42.27). Hearn and Summerfield were both rewarded with new personal bests.
