Volunteers raised £42 just from collection tins throughout the day.

Jenny Dale, community fundraiser for Alzheimer’s Society, who took part in the event, said: "It was great to see people getting involved with Zumba.

"I think we attracted people’s attention and hopefully managed to raise awareness of dementia. This was the first time I’d ever done Zumba before, but I really enjoyed it and I know the people with me did too.

"There are an estimated 22,000 people in Kent living with dementia but only 44 per cent of these have a diagnosis." - Jenny Dale

"It is vital that we continue to keep it in the spotlight and get people talking about it."

A total of 20 people took part in the event, three from Alzheimer's Society, five from Virgin Active and 12 from AXA.

An AXA spokesman said: "This was a fantastic opportunity for AXA to get involved with a local working charity.

"It was a lively event that engaged the public and raised awareness of dementia.

"At the same time our employees had the opportunity to have a load of fun and get fit at the same time."

Alzheimer’s Society runs Dementia Cafés in Sevenoaks, Tonbridge, Tunbridge Wells, along with day services and a range of home support.
