Fordcombe, Tunbridge Wells: Body found

A body has been found in a tiny village near Tunbridge Wells.

Police were called to land off Spring Hill near the River Medway in Fordcombe after concerns were raised for a person's welfare just before 10am.

A police spokesman said: "Officers and paramedics attended and the person was declared as deceased at the scene.

"The death is currently being treated as non-suspicious and efforts are ongoing to notify the next of kin."

The body was not found in the river. No further information is being released at this time.

A South East Coast Ambulance Service spokesman added it sent two ambulance cars the person was announced dead at the scene near the river.

The remote site is about half a mile from the Chafford Arms on the B2188.
