Fire in Tunbridge Wells

Sparks from a bonfire caught hold on the roof of a four-floor property in Tunbridge Wells last night.

Kent Fire and Rescue crews were called to the incident at the property, which was under construction, in Carlton Road, at about 10.20pm after reports that embers from a bonfire had blown onto the roof and started a fire.

Getting inside the building was difficult, so crews using breathing apparatus climbed a tall ladder to reach the third floor to attack the fire with a hose reel jet.
