Paul Heaton and Jacqui Abbott pull out of Bedgebury Pinetum show 'due to illness'

Music duo Paul Heaton and Jacqui Abbott have cancelled their Tunbridge Wells show hours before it was due to start.

In a statement, the former Housemartins and Beautiful South member said Ms Abbot was suffering with "severe back pain".

The pair were due to perform at Bedgebury Pinetum tonight, with Billy Bragg in support.

Organisers say the concert "cannot be rescheduled" and ticket holders are being assured their point of purchase will be in touch to arrange a refund.

In a statement, Paul Heaton said: "It is with great regret that we have to announce the cancellation of tonight's Bedgebury show.

"Jacqui is suffering with severe back pain and, despite struggling through last night's concert, has been advised by doctors that any further travel and performances will exacerbate the situation.

"We look forward to hopefully seeing a fit and happy Jacqui in time for next weekend’s shows.”

Paloma Faith performed at the venue last night.
