Tunbridge Wells man victim of hit and run in East Sussex

A Tunbridge Wells man suffered a broken ankle after a hit and run in East Sussex.

Police are now appealing for witnesses after the collision on Wednesday evening in Hailsham Road, Polegate.

Emergency services were called at around 9.50pm after the injured 59-year-old was found by the side of the A22 near PJ Skips. The driver of the vehicle did not stop.

PC Jon Cook said: "We are trying to determine exactly what happened and would ask anyone who was in the area at the time to get in touch.

"Were you the driver of the vehicle? Did you see anyone walking along the road before the collision?"
