Tunbridge Wells named one of the happiest places to live in Britain according to Rightmove

Tunbridge Wells has been named one of the happiest places to live in the country.

The affluent town, which is the only Kent entry to make the list, was named the fifth happiest place to live in Britain, according to the annual Rightmove Happy at Home survey.

This year's survey put Royal Leamington Spa in the West Midlands as the cheeriest place to live in the entire country, followed by Leigh-on-Sea in Essex.

In third place came the Wirral, and Harrogate scooped the fourth spot.

More than 17,000 people were quizzed for the property website's survey.

They were asked to rate their hometown based on a number of factors including community spirit, how safe they feel and how friendly their fellow residents are.

6. King's Lynn, East of England

7. Epsom, South East

8. Richmond upon Thames, London

9. Poole, South West

10. Chichester, South East
