Tunbridge Wells: Man charged as police investigate dead squirrel scam

A man has been charged following a police investigation into a scam involving a dead squirrel.

Earlier this year police received a number of reports about suspicious activity in Tunbridge Wells where it is alleged a man had been knocking on doors offering unnecessary roof repairs.

The man is said to have produced a dead squirrel before demanding money to clear a pest infestation.

The incidents are reported to have happened between February 19 and May 20 in areas including Sandhurst Road and Ferndale.

On May 24 officers arrested George Johnston, aged 34, of Sandhurst Road, Tunbridge Wells, in connection with the incidents.

He has now been charged with four offences of fraud by false representation and will appear before Sevenoaks Magistrates’ Court on October 10.
