Man in custody following theft of metal in Tunbridge Wells

Officers investigating the theft of copper and lead in the Tunbridge Wells area have made an arrest.

At 9.55am officers came across a van which was reported to have been involved in a number of thefts in the area.

A search of the vehicle, which was found in Old Hay, Paddock Wood, uncovered a quantity of copper wiring and a pressure washer which is believed to have been stolen.

Officers then identified a suspect and detained a 29-year-old man from Tunbridge Wells on suspicion of theft.

He remains in custody as inquiries continue.
