Witnesses sought after car crash in Bells Yew Green

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was seriously injured in a car crash.

The man, in his 30s, was a passenger in a silver Skoda Fabia which smashed into a tree.

The driver, a 23-year-old man from Tunbridge Wells, has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, drink driving and driving with no licence or insurance.

He remains in custody as enquiries continue. No other cars are believed to be involved.

The crash happened on the B2169 in Bells Yew Green, Lamberhurst at 2.54am this morning.

Police believe the car was travelling towards Tunbridge Wells.

The passenger was taken to a London hospital where police say his condition is serious but stable.

A police spokesman said: "Officers from Kent Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or who saw the vehicle travelling in the moments leading up to it."
