Thieves 'hauled driver from his car near Bough Beech then crashed it into parked cars in Tunbridge Wells'

A woman who reportedly waved for a driver to pull over near Bough Beech so she could steal his vehicle, and then smashed it into parked cars in Tunbridge Wells before fleeing the scene, has been arrested.

Officers received a report that at 11.15pm on Tuesday, a man in his 20s was driving a silver Toyota Yaris on Hever Road towards Chiddingstone Causeway when a woman who was standing in the road indicated she wanted him to stop.

After he pulled the car over near to the junction with Hale Oak Road, it is alleged a man ran from behind a bush and assaulted the driver.

The two suspects are said to have pulled the victim from the car and then stolen the vehicle.

Later that day at 11.37pm, the Toyota crashed into parked cars in Allandale Road, Tunbridge Wells and the occupants fled before police arrived.

Officers went to a nearby address where a 31-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of robbery and drink driving. She was later released pending further investigation.

A 23-year-old man was also arrested on suspicion of robbery at 8.25pm yesterday at an address in Tunbridge Wells. He remains in police custody while the investigation is ongoing.
