Tunbridge Wells: Police bail man arrested after Brokes Way house search

A man arrested after suspicious items were found in a house in Tunbridge Wells has been bailed.

Police have been searching the house in Brokes Way since items were discovered by firefighters when dealing with a chip pan fire at a nearby home on Monday.

A forensics tent was spotted outside the property yesterday, and the Ministry of Defence was also called.

Officers arrested a 55-year-old from Tunbridge Wells after the discovery of the items, which included chemicals, mobile phones, and computers.

He has been bailed until Friday, October 13.

A police spokesman said: "Following examination of the address, local residents are assured that their personal safety is not affected by the ongoing police investigation."

Town and Country Housing Group, which owns the building of four flats, has moved three families to alternative accommodation as a precaution while police and partners remain at the scene.

The police spokesman added that the search will continue into tomorrow.
