Fire at North Farm Waste Recycling Centre in Tunbridge Wells

Tunbridge Wells Recycling Centre remains closed today following a fire.

Fire crews were called to the North Farm Waste Recycling Centre shortly after 8am on Saturday and warned the public about billowing smoke.

They confirmed mattresses and other household waste had caught alight in the bulky waste bay.

Images showed the billowing black smoke, but the fire was brought under control. Dowding Way was closed to traffic.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service advised residents and nearby businesses to keep windows closed.
