Tunbridge Wells: Two charged with burglary after items sold to jewellers at Royal Victoria Place

Two men have been charged with burglary offences after stolen items were sold to a Tunbridge Wells jewellers.

Officers carried out random checks at a number of businesses in the town on Monday, October 16.

Rings and necklaces, which had reportedly been sold by visitors to a store at the Royal Victoria Place shopping centre, were identified as having been taken during a burglary.

It is alleged the items were stolen from an address in Beltring Road in the town following a break-in between Wednesday and Thursday, October 11 and 12.

A search warrant was then executed in Burslem Road yesterday, and four people were arrested.

Matthew Cook, 31, of Caley Road, Tunbridge Wells, was later charged with burglary and fraud offences.

Ashley Inglis, 26, of Burslem Road, was also charged with offences of fraud and handling stolen goods.

They were both remanded in custody to appear at Sevenoaks Magistrates Court today.

The two other people who are arrested have been released, pending further investigation.
