Cranbrook High Street roadworks will be finished by May, SGN say

There has been yet another delay in the timetable for roadworks which have disrupted Cranbrook for more than nine months.

The scheme, which was due to finish in November, has been blamed for turning the High Street into a ghost town and affecting trade.

SGN, the utility company leading the project, yesterday announced work would start on Monday and be finished by Friday, May 1.

But due to a clash with water works, the firm has had to move the work to May 11 to 22.

A spokesman for SGN said: “We’re committed to finishing what remains of our essential work in Cranbrook to upgrade the gas network as quickly as possible.”

Extra works will need to take place elsewhere in Cranbrook, but will not affect the town centre. Anyone with questions can call 01233 652 941 or 0800 912 1700 out-of-hours.
