The A229 Cranbrook Road was closed in both directions near Staplehurst after two cars collided and smashed into a telegraph pole.

Fallen power cables and a fuel spillage caused the busy main road to be shut between Pinnock Lane, Staplehurst, and Grandshore Lane, Cranbrook Common, after a collision at 7am.

Uk Power Networks has been notified and will assess the damage to the pole.

Police said the road has now reopened and no injuries have been reported.
