Kent Fire and Rescue Service free man from car which was on side in ditch in Water Lane, Hawkhurst

Firefighters rescued a man from his car after it left the road and became stuck in a ditch in the middle of the night.

The fire service was called to Water Lane, Hawkhurst, at 11.53 pm and sent two fire engines which found the car on its side when they arrived.

Specialist rescue equipment had to be used to free the male driver, who was then taken to Tunbridge Wells Hospital with a suspected broken ankle and wrist.

Kent Police and the South East Coast Ambulance Service also attended.

The fire service left the scene at 1.30am.
