Oil spillage outside Mascalls Academy, Maidstone Road, Paddock Wood, Kent County Council warns drivers

Drivers were warned to approach a road outside a Paddock Wood school with caution after oil was spilt on the road.

The spillage happened outside Mascalls Academy in Maidstone Road just before midday.

Kent County Council confirmed shortly after 4.30pm that the spill had been cleared.

The council said earlier that emergency services were on the scene along with its representatives.

Traffic was being controlled using stop and go boards while workers cleared up the oil.

KCC advised drivers to approach with caution and to expect delays in the area.

A police spokesman said: "Kent Police received a report stating that oil had been spilled from a vehicle travelling in Maidstone Road, Paddock Wood, at 11.49am.

"Officers attended the scene to offer assistance and ensure public safety. The matter is being dealt with by the relevant highways authority."

KCC has been approached for more information.
