A pensioner was treated for the effects of breathing in smoke following a blaze which started in a bedroom.
Three fire crews were called to the house, in Maidstone Road, Paddock Wood, at 1.20pm.
They used breathing apparatus, a hose reel, ventilation fan and thermal imaging camera to deal with the flames on the first floor of the house.
Police were also called, to help deal with the traffic.
The cause of the fire is not yet known.
