Kent Fire and Rescue Service, paramedics, the air ambulance and Kent Police attend crash in Maidstone Road, Paddock Wood

A woman in her 70s has been airlifted to hospital following a three-car crash in Paddock Wood this morning.

Two fire engines, Kent Police, paramedics and the air ambulance were called to the scene of the accident on Maidstone Road just after 10am.

Fire crews did not need to use hydraulic rescue equipment, but worked with paramedics to free a trapped woman who was taken to Kings College Hospital with spinal injuries by air ambulance.

The woman, who was the driver of one vehicle, suffered a medical episode and careered into two parked cars.

A second patient has been taken to Pembury Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Crews left the scene at around 11.30am and the road has since been reopened.
