The Legacy of the Huguenots in wartime France

Kathy Chater a popular speaker.
She returns with another subject, ‘The Legacy of the Huguenots in France in World War II’. Many years ago she discovered that one branch of her Huguenot ancestors came from Dieulefit, a small town that in 2008 was awarded the title ‘Righteous Among The Nations’byYadVeshem, the Holocaust Research Centre. Another town, Le Chambon-sur-Lignon, has the same honour, both for helping Jewish people during the Second World War. Both places have strong Protestant history and individuals in both towns said they were inspired by the persecution of their Huguenot ancestors and drew strength from the legacy of resistance. Kathy will explore this fascinating story which sheds light on the enduring legacy of this extraordinary period of French history.
