The Merchant of Venice
The Playhouse Theatre Whitstable's 2018 entry for the Kent Drama Association Full-Length Play festival.
This year's entry from the Playhouse Whitstable's resident Lindley Players for the Kent Drama Association's Full-Length Play Festival is Shakespeare's The Merchant of Venice. This is one of the more problematic of Shakespeare's works, with its central theme of religious bigotry. This production moves the action to a World War II setting; a time when such sentiments had more profound meaning. The intention is to indicate where such prejudices can finally lead. Come and see.
