Simply Red play Canterbury's Spitfire Ground while Sir Tom Jones and Kaiser Chiefs play Bedgebury Pinetum this weekend

Music fans in Kent are in for a simply amazing weekend with three big names coming to the county.

Simply Red will perform at The Spitfire Ground in Canterbury on Saturday, June 18, one of only a handful of 2016 live shows for the band.

The band, who have sold more than 60m albums worldwide, will be playing the home of Kent county cricket as part of a 30th-anniversary tour.

Lead singer Mick Hucknall said: “It’s a superb ground in a great location and we have many fans in the area who we know will enjoy our greatest hits.”

Kent Cricket CEO Jamie Clifford said: “We are delighted to be bringing top artists to Canterbury once again after the success of the Madness concert in the summer of 2015. I am confident that once again we will see a concert of the highest calibre at the home of Kent Cricket.”

The band will be supported by singer-songwriter Ben Montague, whose single, We Start Over, was made Record of the Week by BBC Radio 2.

Singing legend Sir Tom Jones will be playing Bedgebury Pinetum in Goudhurst for the Forestry Commission's Forest Live concerts on Friday, June 17.

He said: “What a lovely experience this is going to be. I respect and admire the whole idea of Forest Live and hope you can join me to be a part of it.”

Indie rockers Kaiser Chiefs will follow him, headlining a sell-out gig at the pinetum on Saturday, June 18.

Led by singer Ricky Wilson, the band have had hits including I Predict a Riot and Ruby. They will be supported by four-piece post-punk band Spring King and up-and-coming Leeds band Vitamin.
