Dartford: The Kinks' musical, Sunny Afternoon, with music and lyrics by Ray Davies, at the Orchard Theatre

When the Kinks exploded onto the music scene in the 1960s it was with a raw, energetic new sound that rocked a nation.

Songs like You Really Got Me, Waterloo Sunset and Lola became instantly recognisable hits for generations to come.

Set against a backdrop of a Britain caught mid-swing between the conservative 1950s and riotous 1960s, Sunny Afternoon tells the story of the early life of Ray Davies and the Kinks’ rise to stardom, with music and lyrics by the man himself.
