Woodchurch: Weald of Kent Steam Rally rolls in this weekend

A massive line-up of heavy metal will be steaming into the county for a special event this weekend.

It doesn’t get much steamier than 40 full-on steam engines and their billowing plumes of gas, all featuring in the Weald of Kent Steam Rally at Woodchurch near Ashford on Saturday, August 5 and Sunday, August 6.

Engines will have travelled from Sussex, Essex, Surrey and Hampshire to take part so visitors can see them up close – and some of them are newly restored, or have not been displayed before.

There will be arena events, a steam working area with threshing machines and saw benches, as well as stationary engines, other vehicles and ride-on railways plus air displays, helicopter rides and falconry displays.

A Victorian fair complete with carousel and traditional side shows will top off the two days of traditional entertainment at Little Engeham Farm, plus a beer tent and food stalls.

There will also be a stage rally special vintage bus from Ashford to take you there in style.

Entry is £8 for adults and £2 for children. The rally is open from 10am to 6pm both days. For details go to wealdofkentsteamrally.co.uk
