Christmas carol concerts taking place in Kent in December 2013

Singer and TV presenter Cheryl Baker is to give a reading at Demelza Hospice Care for Children’s Annual Carol Concert at Canterbury Cathedral.

The former member of 1980s pop group Bucks Fizz, who lives in West Peckham, near West Malling, will be among several well-known faces to take part in the event, being held at 7.30pm on Wednesday, December 18.

It will also feature a performance by the choir of Canterbury Cathedral directed by Dr David Flood, alongside children from Herne Infant School, near Herne Bay.

Demelza’s events executive Clare Emmett said: “Our annual carol concert at the cathedral is always one of the highlights of our Christmas celebrations.

"As well as a lovely festive evening it is a chance to celebrate with some of the volunteers, staff and children who make Demelza such a rewarding organisation to work for.”

Swing-Along-With-Santa at the University of Kent at Canterbury.

The university’s Big Band will be bringing the term to a festive close with a medley of the cheesiest Christmas classics, together with guest appearances from university vocal groups and plenty of audience carol singing.

It starts at 5.15pm on Wednesday, December 18, in the Colyer-Fergusson Hall.

Admission is free, also seats must be reserved.

Enjoy a Christmas Sing-A-Long in the beautiful setting of Charlton Park, Bishopsbourne, on Wednesday, December 18.

Guitar accompaniment will be provided for an evening of carols in the ballroom at the Grade II listed mansion near Canterbury.

The popular Canterbury Cathedral service of Carols For Christmas is taking place on Monday, December 23.

It starts at 7.30pm, and admission is free, on a first come, first served basis.

Location, Location, Location presenter Phil Spencer will be in the perfect spot for some festive cheer as the special guest at a family Christmas carol concert.

The event, at Tonbridge School Chapel on Thursday, December 19, is in aid of chYps, a children’s hospice helping families at home.

It will feature the Tonbridge Philharmonic Society and starts at 6.30pm.
