Eighties supergroup a-ha are set to perform in Kent next summer.

The Norwegian trio, whose video of Take On Me has been voted in the Top 10 best music videos year on year by MTV fans, will play the Spitfire Ground, St Lawrence in Canterbury, home of Kent County Cricket Club, on Thursday, June 7, as part of their 2018 Summer Electric Tour.

The multi-Platinum selling band feature singer Morten Harket, guitarist Pal Waaktaar-Savoy and keyboardist Magne Furuholmen.

Pioneers of both music and video technology in the mid-1980s, they are best known for their instantly recognisable hit Take on Me which was No.1 internationally, matched by their single the Sun Always Shines on TV, both of which were from their bestselling debut album Hunting High and Low, released in 1985.

They have gone on to release 10 studio and two live albums plus their latest MTV Unplugged album.

Their 2018 Summer Electric Tour will see them perform their greatest hits and their latest acoustic album, bringing a full electric set, plus new material. They will be joined by a full new band including a string section.

Morten Harket said: "We do feel a close affinity to the UK and our fans there. We have also
always seen fans travel to our shows to and within the UK and welcome all. It’s exciting to
play outdoors and take our music to locations which are not traditional Arena touring places. As ever we always want to do things in a new way, to keep things exciting for our fans. We are very much looking forward to playing in Kent."

Liz Doogan-Hobbs from promoter LHG Live said: "I think it is fair to say that they are one of the most iconic bands of the 1980s, not only commanding a strong legion of fans who have followed them through their career, but their latest album is appealing to a new army of fans, too."
