Faversham: Brogdale holds its Strawberry Fair at the weekend

We could all wish for strawberry fields forever but, for now, we can be happy with Brogdale’s Strawberry Fair.

The Faversham home of the National Fruit Collection celebrates the first fruit of the season on Sunday, June 11.

Sample the delights of various strawberries grown here in Kent, including the Brogdale Delicious, the tiny alpine Reine Des Vallees and Mariguette. Enjoy the Snow White strawberry and an afternoon tea in the Strawberry Tearoom.

Sip strawberry Pimms on the meadow with a picnic and choice of strawberries, while listening to Maidstone musician Fred Clark.

There’s also games and activities, including archery, a vintage tractor and machinery display, strawberry crafts and a strawberry fairy trail.

There will also be the chance to meet animals from Happy Endings Sanctuary and take a guided walk or tractor trailer tour, or hop on board the miniature railway. There will also be talks and demonstrations from Canterbury Beekeepers and Canterbury Baking School.
