Feast Festival in Mote Park, Maidstone on August Bank Holiday weekend

Celebrity chefs, live cooking demonstrations and a village overflowing with beer and cider are just some of the attractions which will be on offer at the Feast Festival of Food, Drink and Entertainment in the centre of Maidstone.

The event is the latest venture from the team behind The Social – an all-day dance music show which will return to Mote Park next month after making its debut last year.

Before then, the food-focused weekend, which includes a fun fair and live bands, will take place on Saturday, August 23 and Sunday, August 24. Kids’ entertainment includes face painting, balloon making and magic.

Organiser Luke Bendall, who works alongside local lad Nic Fanciulli, the DJ behind The Social, said: “I’ve been to many food markets and festivals, and I always walk in and out in under two hours. We’ve decided to put on an event which really is a full, fun, family day out showcasing the best in all things, food, drink and entertainment.”

Advice and handy hints on cooking and baking will be provided on the live chef stage during both days of Feast.

On the Saturday, Great British Bake-Off finalist Kimberley Wilson will be sharing her expert knowledge. Bake-Off judge Paul Hollywood says Kimberley chooses “powerhouse flavours” for her creations, while fellow judge Mary Berry calls her creations “very “enterprising”.

Live on stage at Feast on the Sunday will be 2013 Masterchef winner Natalie Coleman.

Natalie’s winning final menu on the show included pork belly with scotch egg and a dessert of vanilla chocolate panna cotta.

No one was surprised when she was crowned the winner. Except Natalie, that is.
