Sheppey Pirates host the world’s biggest water fight at Barton's Point

Don’t head to the coast this weekend without some dry clothes as the world’s biggest water fight will be taking place near Sheerness.

The battle is part of an action-packed three days at the Barton’s Point Coastal Park organised by the Sheppey Pirates.

The fun kicks off at dusk on Friday, August 4 with a free open-air screening of Muppet Treasure Island. The 1996 movie, based on Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic swashbuckling adventure, stars Tim Curry as Long John Silver, Billy Connolly and Jennifer Saunders as well as Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy.

The highlight of the three-day festival will be the pirates’ landing at noon on Saturday, August 5 along with what is thought to be the world’s biggest water fight.

Once the intrepid band of brigands make land they will organise children’s games including tug of war, water jousting, musket training, sword fighting and firing cannons.

From 4pm there’s live music from the likes of the Rockin’ Decades, Clear Water, Tim Pain Ali, Shaken Albert plus Karl Schilg and the Down and Dirty Blues Band.
