The Jungle Book to be screened in Maidstone's Whatman Park this bank holiday

Sit back and relax as alfresco cinema comes to Whatman Park in Maidstone this bank holiday weekend.

Being staged by Maidstone Culture and Leisure, the screening will take place on Sunday, August 28, at 7.30pm, with gates open from 6pm, and visitors encouraged to bring picnics.

The park is the setting for the popular proms in the park each May bank holiday, and Luna Cinema held open-air cinema there in 2014.

The screening will be of this year's film The Jungle Book, a live action retelling of Rudyard Kipling's classic tale.

It starts Scarlett Johansson, Idris Elba, Ben Kingsley, Bill Murray, and was directed by Iron Man director Jon Favreau.

Visit Maidstone is running a competition to win a family ticket, which ends on Wednesday, August 24, on its Facebook page. Tickets cost £12.50 and £8.50 for four to 15-year-olds. A family ticket for two adults and two children are £35 and all tickets can be booked from the Hazlitt. Click here for details.

On the gate tickets will be £15, £11 for four to 15-year-olds and £45 for family tickets.
