Kent Comedy Festival in Maidstone featuring Lee Nelson, Joel Dommett and Zoe Lyons

A new festival promising more than a week of laughs from some top name comedians is coming to the county.

The Kent Comedy Festival will be held in Mote Park in Maidstone from Saturday, September 29 to Saturday, October 6.

Among the award winning comedians set to stage larks in the park are Lee Nelson - famous for pranking Theresa May with a fake P45 at the Conservative conference and then FIFA president Sepp Blatter with bank notes - will play on Friday, October 5, along with Mo Gilligan.

Joel Dommett - who came second to Scarlett Moffatt in the ITV reality series I'm a Celebrity...Get Me out of Here! - will appear on Wednesday, October 3, when also appearing will be Paul McCaffrey and Nathan Cato.

Joining them on the line-up is regular Mock the Week and Comedy Central stars Zoe Lyons and Andy Parsons on Saturday, October 6 and Hal Cruttenden on Sunday, September 30.

The event kicks off with ex-rapper Doc Brown and Live at the Apollo star Darren Harriott on Saturday, September 29.

It will take place in a purpose-built, undercover auditorium, so there will be an intimate atmosphere for all ages. More acts are due to be announced.
