Maidstone Annual Festival of Wind and Brass ends with a finale concert at Sevenoaks School

A trio of world class soloists will be performing at the crescendo of an annual Festival of Wind and Brass.

Trumpeter Rex Richardson, tuba player Les Neish and flautist Andy Findon will all join Maidstone Wind Symphony (MWS) for a gala concert which is also the launch of the orchestra’s new collaborative CD.

Rex is flying in from America to premier a jazz-influenced trumpet concerto written for him by Andy.

The festival concert also features soprano Helen Bailey and a children’s choir who will perform Johan de Meij’s Symphony No 4, Sinfonie der Lieder.

The evening, at Pamoja Hall at Sevenoaks School at 7pm on Saturday, February 25, includes the launch of Roar! – the Wind Band Music of Andy Scott, which has taken several years to put together.

MWS music director Jonathan Crowhurst: “The show really will be a once-in-a-lifetime experience and a spectacular finale to this chapter in the symphony’s history.”

Tickets cost £10, with under-12s free, and are on sale at the box office here.
