Maidstone Proms in the Park 2017 will be held on the late May bank holiday weekend

Get ready for some patriotic promenading - Maidstone's Proms in the Park is back later this month.

The popular free annual event will be held in Whatman Park in Maidstone again this year, on Saturday, May 27, the bank holiday weekend, and start of the school half term holidays.

Last year's event marked the Queen's 90th birthday and paid tribute to the late Jeffrey Vaughan Martin, a local musician and inspiration to many.

Following an earlier time being introduced last year to make it more family-friendly, the day will again begin early in the afternoon, with picnics from 2.30pm and entertainment to follow.
